Accessibility

How we make this website usable for everyone, what still falls short, and how to tell us about a problem.

We want everyone to be able to use projectrhodesia.com, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, zoom, or other assistive technology. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard most websites are measured against.

What we do

  • Keyboard use: the site is built to work without a mouse. A "Skip to content" link comes first on every page, and the item you're on is always outlined.
  • Screen readers: pages have headings in order, labelled menus and landmarks, and descriptions for pictures that carry meaning. Decorative pictures are hidden from screen readers so they don't get in the way.
  • Readable colours: text and buttons meet the AA contrast levels, in both the light and the dark theme. Links aren't shown by colour alone.
  • Your settings: the site follows your device's light or dark setting (or you can choose one yourself), is built to work when zoomed in and on phones, and turns off sliding and fading effects if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Checking: we test our main pages with automated accessibility checks, most recently in October 2026, and fix what they find.

What still falls short

Automated checks can't catch everything, and some parts of the site depend on other people or other services:

  • Pictures posted by members in the forums may not have a description.
  • Videos come from YouTube, which controls their captions and player.
  • The bot check on sign-up and sign-in comes from an outside service. If it stops you from continuing, email us and we'll help.
  • Our games run on Roblox, so their accessibility depends partly on Roblox. This page covers the website.

Tell us about a problem

If something on the site is hard or impossible for you to use, please email [email protected] with "Accessibility" in the subject. Tell us which page you were on, what you were trying to do and, if you like, what device or assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within a week, and we can send you the information you need another way while we work on a fix.
