How to report something on the website that uses your work without permission, and how members can respond.
We respect other people's work and expect our members to do the same. This page explains how to tell us that something on projectrhodesia.com uses your work without permission, what happens next, and what a member can do if they think we removed their post by mistake. It follows the notice-and-takedown steps of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
Where to send copyright notices
Email [email protected] and put "Copyright notice" in the subject, so it reaches the right person quickly.
Reporting something that uses your work
If you own the rights to something (or you're allowed to act for the owner) and it's on our website without permission, send us a notice that includes:
- What your work is, for example a link to the original, or a description if it isn't online.
- Where it is on our website: the link to each post, picture or page, so we can find it.
- Your contact details: your name, postal address, phone number and email address.
- This statement: "I have a good faith belief that the use of the material described above is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
- This statement: "The information in this notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I am the owner, or authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of the copyright that is allegedly infringed."
- Your signature: typing your full name at the end is enough.
If a notice is missing something, we may ask you for it before we act.
When we receive a complete notice, we remove the material or block access to it promptly. We tell the member who posted it, and give them a copy of the notice, which includes your name and how to contact you, so they can reply to you or send a counter-notice.
Please be sure before you send a notice. Under US law (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)), anyone who knowingly says something is infringing when it isn't can be responsible for the costs and harm that causes. If you're not sure, for example because the use might be a review, a parody or a short quote, consider asking a legal professional first.
If your post was removed by mistake
If something you posted was removed because of a copyright notice and you believe that was a mistake (for example, you made it yourself, or you have permission), you can send us a counter-notice at the same address. It must include:
- What was removed and where it was before (the link, if you have it).
- Your contact details: your name, postal address, phone number and email address.
- This statement: "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that I have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled."
- This statement: "I consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which my address is located (or, if my address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Project Rhodesia may be found), and I will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notice or their agent."
- Your signature: typing your full name at the end is enough.
We send a copy of your counter-notice, including your contact details, to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have started a court case to keep it down, we put the material back between 10 and 14 business days after we received your counter-notice.
If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to help you with a counter-notice.
Members who repeatedly post others' work
Members who keep posting work that isn't theirs lose their account. We normally close an account after three valid copyright notices about it, and sooner in serious cases. A notice that is withdrawn, or that is answered by a counter-notice that isn't challenged in court, doesn't count.
Our games on Roblox
Our games and anything in them are on Roblox. You can report something in them to us at the address above, or use Roblox's own copyright reporting.
